I am an outsider in that I have never been one of Jehovah's Witnesses, but I have done alot of reading. It is my impression that after 1935 there was a slow movement, but a continual. In 1935 Jesus was the Messiah and the "Little Flock" were going to be Kings and Priest. But over the years Jesus seems to just be the first of the "Little Flock" and the "Annionted" all 144,000 are the Messiah. I know they never come out and say that, but everything that coming to Christ fellowship does for us is expressed as done by coming in to fellowship with the 144,000. Even the second question of baptism requires acknowledgement of the organization. So it would follow that their Memorial talk be praise of themselves. There is no lack of pride in themselves in their publications.

Excellent question! I've never thought of that angle before and I don't recall ever seeing this question in Questions from Readers? It's a toss-up, because Daniel chapter 2 specifically says that "Michael, the great Prince", but other places in the NT talks about Jesus "coming on the clouds of heaven with power and great glory".
I do not want to get off the subject of the Memorial and what people observed this year. But I read Daniel 2 and I do not see how it specifically says that Michael is the one that returns. The symboligy of the Rock is never used with Michael, but is used for Jesus.

It says to keep doing it in memory of him, until he returns. Now, since Jesus returned in 1914, why the @#$% are the JWs still celebrating the memorial? Invisibility is out of the question!
This is what Russell said in Vol 6 of the Studies of the Scriptures The New Creation copy write 1904 edition 1917 page 465 on why they still celibrate the memorial.
The end of the paragraph that starts The Apostle adds...
...Faith in the ransom continues to find its illustration in this simple memorial, "till he come,"- not only until our Lord's parousia, or presence, in the harvest or end of this age, but until during his parousia one by one his faithful ones have been gathered to him, beyond the "Veil," there to participate to a still fuller degree, and, as our Lord declared, partake of it "anew in the Kingdom."
Of course there is no scripture reference to support this thought, just Russell's say so. Most active witnesses have probably never seen this.
I would like to know how did Jesus return in 1914 (of course in this edition he returned in 1874 and Armegedon was to be 1914), as Michael or as Jesus? In which form will he rule in the 1, 000 year reign?

donkey,
We have to remember that the titles Methodist, Catholic, Baptist, Christian Reformed, and etc. are man's attempt to reach out to God.
Chistianity is God reaching out to man.

Heathen,
Do you think that it is control? Most all the laws that they send down appear to have more to do with control, than with Biblical teachings. They can control the "great crowd" (did you know that Rutherford called this class the "prisoner class" in the booklet Angels in 1934) by making them sit there and pass the elements without partaking.

Heathen, You bring up a good point. Since they believe that Jesus returned invisibly in 1914, what is the reason they give for still celebrating the Lord's Supper which is suppose to be done in rememberance? Triple A

heathen,
One other item, I do believe it to be important to participate in communion. But I do not believe that one's salvation is controled by when the last time was that they partook of the elements.

heathen,
Thanks, I do look to participate in these discussions. But I am looking more for outreach ideas and help with the way on how approach items. Still learning and sometimes do not really show that I truely care.
Having never been a Witness, I have thought about showing up for a memorial service to actually see and hear for myself what goes on. Do you have to be invited or can you just show up? Any does or don't if I do crash the local kingdom hall.

Last year I wrote this to a friend, but like all my other iquiries there was no response.
I also hope you can read this with the understanding that I am not trying to be pious or arrogant. I am being honest with my thoughts and beliefs. I am also saying this out of love and concern.
There are several things that we have not finished in discussion and I hate to open up another topic, but this is an appropriate time to mention this. Since tomorrow is Nisan 14 and your Memorial will be held.
This is a definition of the Memorial as I understand: It is the annual "observance" of Christ's death on the Jewish date of Nissan 14. A talk is given teaching the death of Jesus and the New Covenant being established only for "Anointed" Jehovah's Witnesses, who alone are allowed to partake of the emblems. Unleavened bread and wine is passed from member to member to symbolize the body and blood of Jesus, but no one, unless they have the "heavenly hope" is allowed to eat or drink the symbols.
I believe that the taking of the Lord's Supper is symbolic and salvation is not dependent upon ones participation. With that symbolism in mind, I would like you to think about this when you let the unleavened bread and wine pass by you. I believe that this symbolizes your letting the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ pass you by.
But what of those that are partaking at your Memorial? Since Jehovah's Witness believe that Christ was only a man here on earth and Michael the Archangel before and after this, those that partake are worshipping a man and/or an angel. This would than fall into the category of idolatry especially since the Bible is explicit about not worshipping either.
The Christ that I know came for us all and is as much my personal savior as He is yours and as He is Milton G. Henschel. But I believe that the Jehovah's Witness have rejected the True Christ and Savior. But I guess we will get to that sometime later.
